The 2011 UCP Halloween Party for Kids with special needs and their families was a huge success with over 250 people in attendance. Games, crafts, treats, and a professional ventriloquist greeted the crowd. It was a great opportunity for families to get together and children to enjoy games and entertainment in an accessible and safe area. Thanks to the St. Cloud Optimist Club along with many other contributors and volunteers who help to make this event an entertaining and fun night out.
It wasn't easy but the 30th Annual UCP Golf Tournament was high and dry on Monday, June 20th. Despite clouds and a fall like chill in the air, 70 golfers came out to Wapicada Golf Club to help support the programs and services of United Cerebral Palsy of Central MN.
Special thanks goes out to Asics for their donation of golf shirts for all of the golfers as well as Great Steps O & P and Array Group Services for their generous support. With the help of some great sponsors and volunteers, the day was filled with smiles, prizes and great food.
Congratulations to the First Place team of Lee Moening, Ryan Moening, Joe Mullen, Ed Atkinson and Travis Atkinson. Second Place was taken by Mike Kasner, Jim Pattock, Jeff Lefler, Pete Svhiel and Rob Brenny. To round out the top three, Third Place was filled by Jim Schlenner, Gary Grundman, Keith Laudenbach, Tom Wolke and Joe Dockendorf.
UCP hosted the 5th Annual Heat Wave event to support the programs and services of United Cerebral Palsy of Central MN. The evening was filled with fabulous food and fun music as guests were treated to samples of the sounds of the tropics and the taste of many local restaurants sharing their unique and delicous dishes.
Thanks to the many supporters and sponsors, the event raised over $8,500 that will help fund the infomation and referall services, financial assistance, assistive technology program and other services of UCP. All of the funds serve people with disabilities in Central MN.
Special thanks to all of the food vendors for their time and contributions. Congratulations goes out to the 2 time winner of the Tasters Choice Award, 6th Ave. Bistro at the St. Cloud Hospital. Thanks to all of our sponsors with a special recognition to Greg and Susan Schlosser for their generosity and donations of time and money. Thanks also to Tracy Arduser and Cathi Thompson for there work on the event committe.
UCP hosted the 13th Annual Stuck in Motion event this past Saturday, January 29th at Whitney Recreation Center in St. Cloud. 80+ riders gave it their all for 20 minutes to raise money to support the programs and services of United Cerebral Palsy! Music in Motion provided inspiration and irritation with great music and heckling of riders to add a little spice to the day.
Thanks to all of the riders and contributors to the event. Due to their hard work, this years event raised over $19, 000! Team Tacy was the team that brought in the most pledges totallying $6155. The individual rider that brought in the most money was Kevin Feddema bringing in $2015!
The riders also worked hard on the bikes, pedaling for their pledges. Awesome Austins 2 took the lead cycling a total of 100.46 miles with individual male winner, John Muller finishing with 13.51 miles, female winner Jenny Kroska with 9.01 miles and under 15 winner Eli Weis biking an outstanding 6.25 miles! Team Tacy cheered their way to the 2011 Spirit Award winners.
A special thanks goes out to all of our volunteers. Members of AKS from the College of St. Ben's as well as friends of UCP provided rider support and registration assistance.
